The latest feature offered by Apple in iTunes 10 is known as "Ping" feature, where you can find out what your friends listening are to or maybe also what your favorite artists are up to. In other words, iTunes 10 represents social network for music (just like Twitter + facebook = iTunes).

Ping feature in iTunes 10 basically is a social music discovery, where artists can be followed or follow anyone. Unfortunately, as a regular user you need to set using the approval only to be followed. Your privacy is maintained because you're easier to set how private or public you are.
