How to Fix iTunes Error During iPhone Restore (via Hosts file)

Sometimes you will annoyed when an error occurs while you are restoring the iOS firmware via iTunes. Apparently, the issue of iTunes Restore error is still common in some of you for some reasons (either the iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad). Now, I will show you a simple way to fix the iTunes error by simply editing the "hosts" file. Are you interested?

To fix iTunes error during firmware restore via hosts file is quite easy. You only need to ping to the Apple server at "ping gs.apple.com" and if there is something that has value other than 17.112.176.11, then you should edit the hosts file. But, how?



For Windows user, you can change the hosts file by simply following the step below:

Start Menu ->> Run ->> type ping gs.apple.com >> click "Ok"

For Mac user, you can change the hosts file by simply following the step below:

Open Terminal ->> Type ping gs.apple.com ->> Hit your "Enter"

1. Open Hosts File:

For Mac user: Press COMMAND + SHIFT + G on your keyboard ->> go to /private/etc/ ->> You have to find Hosts file, then open it ->> Simply edit the hosts file with text editor

For Windows user: Press Windows Logo + E keys to open Windows Explorer ->> go to C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc ->> right-click on the host file >> open with NotePad as Text editor on Windows

2. You must add the following line below via Text editor:

74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com



3. Save the host file you've edited. Once you've done, you should flush DNS Cache to make the changes work:

For Mac user: Open Terminal ->> type dscacheutil -flushcache ->> hit Enter on your keyboard

For Windows user: Start Menu ->> Run ->> type ipconfig /flushdns ->> click "Ok"
